Naming Ceremony of Bourbon Topaz
When Sponsoring Lady Hannelore Maaseide crushed the champagne bottle into Bourbon Topaz’ ships side, it was no doubt that this was an action of determination. With the strong name Bourbon Topaz, and the Mayor of Ulsteinvik as Sponsoring Lady, this vessel has all the opportunities to be a success in the market. All together with the brilliance of Ulstein Verft and the sub-contractors’ performance in building this gem, Captain Arnar Steinsvik and his crew have a very high- tech tool for future actions on the seven seas.
This is the first vessel built within the new NAUT OSV classification
notification. This means several improvements of the bridge design and layout,
and has been developed in close co-operation with DnV, Ulstein Verft and other
offshore companies.
Captain Arnar's first impression of this is that some of the solutions and placing of operation instruments are unusual, but this will be quickly familiarised when he begins to operate the vessel.

Chief Engineer Bård Eikebø is very happy with the solution of placing the Engine Control Room at the Main Deck. This means that the noise level is rather pleasant when the engineers are on duty. With 5 video cameras strategically placed in the Engine areas, the engineers have very good overview of the areas below deck.
The 4 Caterpillars produce 7.300 kw, and give enough power to the Azipull
propellers to push the vessel forward with 15,2 knots. The overall length of the
vessel is 86,2 meters and the breadth is 19 meters.
The large cargo capacity is one of the characteristics of this vessel, and it is also prepared and equipped to perform Oil Recovery Operations.
